Course Overview

The TAR UMT–Jimei University 2+2 Aquaculture Programme offers students a seamless pathway from a Diploma in Aquaculture in Malaysia to a Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture in China. The programme equips students with practical and research-based skills in aquaculture systems, aquatic animal health, feed and nutrition, and sustainable seafood production. The first two years at TAR UMT focus on tropical aquaculture, aquaponics, and entrepreneurship, while the final two years at Jimei University in Xiamen provide exposure to marine-focused disciplines at a century-old institution renowned for marine and fisheries sciences. Graduates gain dual qualifications, international experience, and are prepared for careers in the global aquaculture industry.

Achievement

Graduates will receive both a Diploma in Aquaculture from TAR UMT and a Bachelor of Aquaculture from Jimei University.

Curriculum

• Years 1–2: TAR UMT, Malaysia (Diploma in Aquaculture)
  • Aquaculture setup, water quality management, feed & nutrition, seed production, harvesting, aquaponics
  • Hands-on training, fieldwork, industrial visits, lab analytics
  • Business & entrepreneurship fundamentals
• Years 3–4: Jimei University, China (Bachelor of Aquaculture)
  • Marine-focused disciplines
  • Chinese-taught courses (HSK Level 4 required)

Entry Requirements

• SPM with a minimum of 3 credits in relevant subjects or equivalent qualifications as accepted by the HEP Senate.
• Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.
• For progression to Jimei University: Completion of Diploma in Aquaculture (TAR UMT) with required academic standing and HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught courses.
