Petaling Jaya, 23 August 2025 - 红玫瑰社区.com had the privilege of witnessing a spectacular moment in Malaysia’s fashion education scene: the ESMOD Kuala Lumpur Graduation Fashion Show 2025.

This annual showcase proved once again why ESMOD KL, under the umbrella of The One Academy, is recognised as one of the nation’s most exciting fashion schools. Themed “Breaking the 4th Wall”, the runway lit up with fresh artistry, compelling narratives, and boundary-pushing craftsmanship.

A New Generation of Fashion Designers

Eighteen graduating designers from the class of FD2209 presented a total of 74 distinctive garments, each piece unveiling unique concepts and personal stories. Their works reflected the diversity of their backgrounds - spanning different nationalities, genders, and creative inspirations - but shared a common thread of passion and dedication.

For these soon-to-be graduates, the fashion show was more than just an event. It was the culmination of three years of hard work, training, and perseverance, finally coming to life before a live audience.

Breaking the 4th Wall

Inspired by the well-known theatrical device, “Breaking the 4th Wall”, the students used fashion to blur the lines between designer and spectator. By inviting the audience into their inner worlds, they communicated not just through fabric and form, but also through emotion and perspective.

As the group explained:

“The show serves as a vessel for us to break our own 4th walls; the walls between our personal worlds and the worlds of the people around us. We are inviting everyone to come inside our worlds, to experience first-hand our thoughts and feelings, and to understand the clothes we make.”

Guided by Industry Icons

In the lead-up to the event, the designers took part in Jury Week, presenting their works to a distinguished panel of fashion leaders. Among them were Melinda Looi (Founder of Melinda Looi Couture), Ian Loh (Editor-in-Chief, GRAZIA Malaysia), Kristy Yong (CEO, Ms. Read), Dickson Lim (Designer, DICKSON LIM), and Jamil Juma (Creative Director, Juma Studio).

The panel provided constructive critiques and invaluable praise on technique, execution, creativity, and overall quality. This one-on-one interaction offered students real-world industry insights, equipping them with knowledge beyond the classroom and preparing them for professional practice.

An Education Rooted in Parisian Tradition

ESMOD Kuala Lumpur is part of the world’s oldest fashion school network, founded in Paris in 1841 by Alexis Lavigne. The KL campus continues this legacy, combining French fashion traditions with modern industry practices.
